Text Message

Someone recently asked a friend of hers, a Vessel participant, “Why would I join Vessel? Couldn’t I just read a book? Learn a sefer?”
Fair question. You’re asking a woman whose idea of a good time involves a book, another book, and a third book in case something happens to the first two.
Books are absolutely my love language.
And we live in a world where texts are available everywhere. We can access entire libraries from our phones. Anything we want to learn is a search away. What a privilege.
So why a course? Why a teacher? Why Vessel?
Because there’s the text, and then there’s the message.
There are times you can understand every word on the page and still struggle to bring it into the office when you’re overwhelmed, into a conversation with your spouse, or into the way you speak to yourself after a hard day.
Vessel is a space for that integration. Through Torah based inner work, and a thriving community willing to ask real questions, we explore our patterns, our relationships, and the stories we carry. We learn to recognize what’s happening inside us and practice responding with more awareness, more choice, and more trust in ourselves and a Higher Order.
That takes a different kind of learning.
A conversation that helps you stay with a question a little longer.
Someone who says, “Wait, I do that too.”
A way of learning that challenges your understanding, contributes something you hadn’t considered, or poses the question you weren’t quite ready to ask.
There’s something about that back-and-forth that lets a message reach places a text alone might never get to.
I will always surround myself with books. Vessel has a reading list, resources, and references, and one of my favorite things is watching participants become more excited to learn, to open a sefer, explore the parsha, get curious about psychology, and keep following the questions.
But describing Vessel by what you’ll learn intellectually would leave out so much of what happens here.
The learning becomes inner knowing. Something you can live from.
Two years ago, a conversation in Vessel inspired us to start getting our homes ready for Shabbos before chatzos, making room to welcome Shabbos early.
Think about what that changes in a home as a result, the pace, the atmosphere, the way we enter those hours.
And that’s just one example.
We also parent differently. We speak differently. We show up in our relationships with a new awareness. We experience our Judaism with more depth because the ideas have become part of how we live.
The text matters deeply.
But it's the message that keeps unfolding long after we’ve closed the book.
So here’s my text and message to you:
We begin October 17, and Vessel runs only once a year. If you’ve been reading these emails and wondering what it would be like to do this work together, I’d love to have you join us.
And in case you missed it, your spouse joins for free. Vessel is open to men and women, and this work becomes so powerful when we have people beside us who are learning to live it too.
The strongest community starts in our own home,
